Val Thorens is located in the Tarentaise Valley, Savoie, French Alps and is accessed via many routes. The nearest airports are Chambery, Grenoble, Lyon & Geneva and there is rail and coach link available at the bottom of the moutain at Moutiers.

Most people either fly to one these and hire cars, parking can be pre-booked in resort direct on garaged car site (approx €70) or a short walk from the apartment in the main carpark (fee's payable). As a rough guide, driving from Lyon/Grenoble to resort will take approx 2 ½ hours and from Chambery around 1 ½ hour. Coach from Moutier to village, allowing for stops takes approx 45mins.

Apres Ski / Recommendations

For Families
Family fun can be found at either the pool at Residence Montana Plein Sud or the main leisure centre at the top of the village. Most bars allow children although we have used the following bars and restaurants for many years and can highly recommend:

La Joyeuse (Fondue)
Petite Ferme – very close to the apartment and excellent for familes
Le Chaudron Magiqur (next door to the Cheval Blanc)
Montana Restaurant – on the lower floor of the aparment building
L'Epcunen – Also on the lower floor of Village Montana – better for couples/older children
Le Rendezvous – Excellent all rounder for all meals, our favourite
Face West – top part of the village facing the ski run through the village
The Steak Club – Further up the the highest point of the village across the main ski run.
John Scandinavian – Again the higher point of the village.

On Piste
La Fruitiere – located at the side of the La Folie Douce, expensive but excellent located on Plein Sud

Chalet de la Marine – Excellent food with a once a week torchlight evening located at the Cascades chair lift.

Le Caribou – Great French onion soup and good hearty meals in a traditional setting located on the Genepi Piste
Les Chalets due Thorens – Good for sushi, located via the Deux Lacs chair lift
Chalet des 2 Ours – located at the Boismint sector
